How to hire a painter in Regina: questions worth asking
Most painting complaints come down to scope that was never written down. These questions surface the difference between quotes.
Ask what preparation is included
Preparation is where quotes diverge the most and where finishes succeed or fail. Ask specifically about patching, sanding, caulking, priming, degreasing (for cabinets), and washing or scraping (for exteriors). A quote that only lists 'two coats' is not comparable to one that details prep.
Ask for the scope in writing
A written quote should name the rooms or elevations, the surfaces included, the number of coats, and what is explicitly excluded. That document is what protects both sides when questions come up mid-project.
Confirm insurance

Talk about products and timeline
Ask which product lines will be used on which surfaces and why, and how long the project will take including cure time. On cabinets in particular, cure time matters — a finish can feel dry long before it is hard enough for daily use.
